Full Tour Details
Sunday 23rd September 2018
Departing The North west from 08.00am we will drive South making several comfort stops en-route. Our destination is Lostwithel in Southern Cornwall and our hotel is the Best Western Fowey Valley Hotel.
This well-appointed hotel nestled on the edge of the village has a good reputation and is well located for our excursions. We will stay here for 4 nights on a half board basis.

Today we have a leisurely start and drive along the Southern coast our fist visit will be to Looe, in particular East Looe – a collection of narrow streets lined with shops, cafes and pubs that lead through to the main town beach which is bordered on the west by the Banjo pier. This is the entrance to the main harbour and by a rocky promontory at the eastern edge and it has a compact beach. Later we drive to Polperro.
It’s easy to step back in time in what is a largely an unspoilt fishing village on the South East coast of Cornwall. Its beautiful cottages cling to steep hillsides around a small harbour with spectacular views of land and sea making it an artist’s paradise. Like its neighbour Looe, Polperro offers plenty of places to eat and relax. (Some walking from coach park to village will be required).
Tuesday 25th September 2018
Today we will visit The Eden Project, Inside the artificial biomes are plants that are collected from all around the world. The project is located in a reclaimed Kaolinite pit near St Austell. The complex is dominated by three huge enclosures consisting of adjoining domes that house thousands of plant species, and each enclosure emulates a natural biome.
The domes consist of hundreds of hexagonal and pentagonal, inflated, plastic cells supported by steel frames. The first dome emulates a tropical environment and the second a Mediterranean environment. The 50-metre-tall Biome houses the world’s largest rainforest in captivity.
Wednesday 26th September 2018
The estate was let out and then sold after the First World War. The garden was not maintained but was rediscovered and rescued in a televised project “Lost Gardens of Heligan” in 1996. If time permits we will visit nearby Mavagissey, a charming port village over looking St Austell Bay.
Thursday 27th September 2018
After breakfast we will check out of the hotel and return home. We will make several stops during the day and we hope to make a stop just off the motorway if time permits. We intend arriving back in the North West between 6pm and 7pm.
