Depart from Worsley at 8.00am and drive south via the motorway system, making comfort stops and possibly a place of interest enroute to Newquay and the Pentire Hotel. The hotel is located on Pentire head overlooking Fistral beach and close to Newquay town centre. The hotel has a large indoor pool and spa. This will be our base for the next 7 nights on a DBB basis.

This morning will be free to look around Newquay, not only has the town been an important resort for over 150 years but it has had a very prosperous fishing port especially for Pilchards. We will take a brief tour of the town in the afternoon and take afternoon tea in nearby Crantock.

Today we drive a short distance to Truro the administrative centre of the county, were we shall have a little free time and then all join a boat and cruise along the river Fal taking a conducted tour. Next stop is Trelisick Gardens NT, a beautiful garden overlooking the river set in 40 acres of grounds. Then we rejoin the coach to Falmouth where we shall have free time. This large sea faring port has had a reputation for smuggling on a large scale. Still a thriving port and naval base on the mouth of the River.

Today we take a tour to the southern tip of the county and Penwith Peninsular. Our first visit will be to St Ives. This picturesque village has become a haven for artists now so much so that The Tate has a presence as well as the Barbara Hepworth gallery. After some free time here we continue around the peninsular taking in Zenor and the mining communities, Lands End and Port Curno and the Minak theatre.
Thursday 28th June 2018
We don’t travel quite as far today. In the morning we drive to Padstow, now locally renamed “Padstein” after the arrival of celebrity chef Rick Stein. His presence has certainly put the town on the culinary map and his ‘fish n chips’ are very good. After some time here we continue along the north Cornish coast to visit the pretty fishing harbor of Boscastle. If time allows we will also call in at Tintagel on the way back to our hotel.
Friday 29th June 2018
This morning we drive to Mounts Bay. Our first stop is at Marazion , from here we will walk across to St Michaels Mount NT. Still home to the St Aubyn family as well as a small community, this iconic rocky island is crowned by a medieval church and castle – with the oldest buildings dating from the 12th century. Later we drive to Penzance. This infamous fishing port is a busy place with a much more authentic feel to it. The Admiral Benbow Pub is in the town and was mentioned in the opening chapter of Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island”

Sunday 30th June 2018
After breakfast we will depart from the hotel to Worcester this pleasant old city on the banks of the River Severn was a vital trading point between Gloucester, Birmingham and the Welsh borders. The Medieval Cathedral stands overlooking the river from a vantage point as does much of the city centre. We will have plenty of free time here to browse, have lunch and maybe visit the Cathedral or the Royal Worcester Porcelain works which are close by. From here we return to Worsley taking the more scenic drive through the Cheshire Marches rather than the Motorway and expect to be back at about 6pm.
