We have arranged a 7-day tour to Reims and Honfleur in September 2018. Our two base tour will be staying at the Hotel Mercure Reims and Mercure Hotel Honfleur conveniently located in the centre of both towns.

Sunday 2nd September 2018
Departing from Up Holland in the morning we drive south to Dover where we catch the 13.30hrs Channel Tunnel from Folkestone to Calais. Our coach is a luxury executive with a high level of leg room and comfort it is a good idea to have a picnic lunch today, as it may not be possible to stop exactly at lunchtime. Once in France the journey takes approximately 3 hours and we should be arriving in Reims at about 19.30hrs The Mercure Hotel is in the town centre. A modern comfortable hotel, we will stay here for 3 nights on a bed and buffet breakfast basis. Reims is a pleasant city located in the heart of the Champagne producing region and is the location of one of Europe’s most important Cathedrals.
Monday 3rd September 2018
Today we have an easy morning to look around, Reims Cathedral is the best preserved and most important Gothic cathedral in France and has been the scene of most of the coronations of the French Monarchy. After lunch we make our way on the coach to a nearby Champagne Cave for a tour and tasting.
Tuesday 4th September 2018
Today we take a tour of the region and to its second Champagne town, Epernay. The change in scenery is remarkable as both towns are so close together we take time for lunch and then make a tour of a Champagne producers facility.
Wednesday 5th September 2018
We will leave our hotel at approx. 09.00hrs for our visit to Monet’s Garden. First we will visit Giverney on the river Seine where the artist Monet lived for many years up to his death in the early part of the 20th Century. The house and gardens are now operated by a trust.. There will be some free time in the village for lunch and from here we then continue to Honfleur a charming small fishing harbour on the banks of the Seine. We will stay at The Mercure Hotel in the town centre. A modern comfortable hotel close to dozens of restaurants around the old harbour. We will stay here for 3 nights on a bed and buffet breakfast basis.
Thursday 6th September 2018
Today is free to enjoy Honfleur. A popular destination for visitors and artists alike. The small harbour has a busy fishing fleet who’s sole occupation appears to be supplying seafood to the hundreds of restaurants throughout the town. Boat trips are popular as is the small “petite train” which takes a tour of the town. There are many small shops and in particular art studios.
Friday 7th September 2018
Today we take a ride south into central Normandy We will pass by several places of importance in relation to the D-Day landings such as Pegasus Bridge and the Omaha beaches. Our lunch stop will be at the pleasant seaside town of Arromanches. If time permits we will try and spend some time in nearby Bayeux.
Saturday 8th September 2018
This morning we head for home. We drive back to Calais for the early afternoon crossing to Folkestone. We should have time for a short visit to a hypermarket en-route. Once back in England we continue along the motorway system to Up Holland. We hope to be arriving at 8.00pm traffic permitting.
